Honda CR-V uses DOT 3 brake fluid — flush every 2 years. Malaysia humidity accelerates fluid degradation; do not skip this service.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. In Malaysia's humidity, brake fluid can reach 3–4% water content within 2 years — this significantly lowers the boiling point and increases the risk of brake fade on long downhill stretches.
Brake fluid service
Spec: Honda DOT 3 or DOT 4. Replace every 2 years or 40,000 km, whichever comes first. A simple moisture test (refractometer or test strip) at our workshop takes 2 minutes. Full brake fluid flush: RM80–120. CR-V owners who use Genting or Cameron Highlands routes should not defer this service.
