CR-V brake discs take considerable punishment from the SUV's weight, especially on downhill runs from Genting Highlands or hilly KL areas. Minimum disc thickness must be maintained — worn discs cannot dissipate heat properly.
Disc inspection and replacement
Measure disc thickness annually. Minimum thickness is cast into the disc (typically 26mm front, 8mm rear for the CR-V). Signs of warped discs: pulsation through the pedal when braking, steering wheel shimmy. Replacement cost: RM280–450 for front pair, RM200–320 for rear pair. Replace pads and discs together if pads are also worn.
