BMW 7 Series Power Steering Malaysia — EPS/Hydraulic
F01: hydraulic power steering (older generation) — power steering fluid change every 80,000 km, RM 200–350. G11: EPS — no fluid. G11 Integral Active Steering: rear-wheel steering system adds complexity — separate hydraulic actuator. EPS motor warning on G11 at 100,000+ km. Malaysia EPS repair RM 1,000–2,800 — heavier 7 Series puts more load on motor.

7 Series Power Steering
- F01: hydraulic power steering — power steering fluid (Pentosin CHF 11S) check annually
- G11: electric power steering (EPS) — no fluid required
- Integral active steering (optional): rear-wheel steering system — diagnose with ISTA if handling feels off
Electric Power Steering — No Fluid to Ignore
The 7 Series uses electric power steering (EPS) — there is no hydraulic fluid to check or change. However, EPS is not maintenance-free: the steering column bearing and EPS motor are wear items, and the system requires correct coding to the vehicle's VIN if the EPS unit is replaced. Common EPS symptoms in Malaysia: groan or whine on full lock in car parks, variable steering weight at highway speed (usually an EPS adaptation issue), or a steering warning light. ISTA can read EPS torque sensor data and motor current draw.
