BMW 4 Series Workshop Cases Malaysia — 4M Car Care
Real 4 Series cases: F32 420i 72,000 km N20 chain rattle — full kit including guides and tensioner RM 4,500. G22 420i 58,000 km electric water pump leak, coolant warning — pump RM 1,100. G22 M440i valve cover gasket oil on coil 2 — coil + gasket same visit RM 950. All actual Malaysia workshop costs.
Case 1: F36 Gran Coupe 428i — N20 Chain + Valve Cover (75,000 km)
F36 428i came in for an oil leak. Found oil misting from valve cover gasket — common on N20 at this mileage. While removing the valve cover, ISTA also showed P0016 code stored. Borescope confirmed chain guide wear. Replaced: valve cover gasket (RM 450) and full timing chain kit (RM 3,800) in one job — saved labour by combining. Total: RM 4,250. Owner declined chain job initially but agreed when we showed the borescope footage.
Case 2: G26 Gran Coupe 420i — B48 Water Pump + Carbon (68,000 km)
G26 420i came in for a CBS oil service. Owner mentioned 'slight temperature needle fluctuation' — we checked and found coolant loss of about 150ml since last service. ISTA showed electric water pump performing intermittently. Also did carbon inspection — intake valves had moderate buildup at 68,000 km (mostly KL city driving). Combined water pump replacement (RM 950) + walnut blast (RM 700) in one workshop visit. Car now runs at stable temp with clean intake valves. Total: RM 1,650.
