BMW 4 Series Air Conditioning Malaysia

F32 uses R134a; G22 uses R1234yf. Coupe roofline traps heat — cabin heats up faster than 3 Series in Malaysia sun. Convertible F33: folding roof seals degrade and allow heat ingress. Annual A/C check. Compressor RM 1,200–2,600. Cabin filter every 15,000 km.

4 Series A/C Service

  • Refrigerant: R134a (pre-2017) or R1234yf (2017+ and G2x) — confirm year
  • Regas: RM 180–250 (R134a) / RM 350–480 (R1234yf)
  • F33 Convertible: extra check on roof-seal drainage channels for A/C water leak

R1234yf vs R134a in Malaysia

Newer 4 Series variants (post-2017) use R1234yf refrigerant, which costs significantly more to regas than the older R134a. Do not mix refrigerant types — this damages the A/C compressor and seals. Always confirm which refrigerant your specific 4 Series uses before any A/C service. In Malaysia's year-round heat, the A/C compressor works nearly continuously — annual A/C inspection at 4M Car Care is recommended to catch compressor wear and refrigerant leaks early.
