BMW 1 Series Power Steering Malaysia — EPS
Both F20 and F40 use EPS — no power steering fluid. F20 RWD EPS provides sharper steering feel. F40 FWD EPS calibrated differently — softer. Common issue: EPS warning light at 100,000+ km. Malaysia EPS repair RM 600–1,800. Lighter 1 Series easier on EPS motor.

1 Series EPS — Lightest Feel in BMW Range
The F20 EPS is tuned for a lighter, more direct feel compared to the heavier 3 Series or X3 — partly because the car is lighter and requires less assistance. The EPS is reliable on the 1 Series and rarely fails before 100,000 km. The most common complaint is the steering feel 'going numb' at motorway speeds — this is typically caused by a degraded EPS calibration and can be resolved by an ISTA EPS reset and recalibration at 4M Car Care.
