BMW 1 Series Carbon Cleaning Malaysia
All 1 Series petrol engines (N20, B38, B48) are direct injection — carbon buildup at 60,000–80,000 km. Walnut blast: F20 N20 4-cyl RM 500–900; F40 B38 3-cyl RM 450–750 (only 3 ports). B48 RM 500–900. Compact 1 Series easier engine bay access = faster walnut blast.

B38 Carbon — 3-Cylinder Consideration
The B38 3-cylinder has only 3 intake valves — the walnut blast procedure is the quickest in our BMW range at approximately 1.5 hours. This makes the service cost lower (fewer labour hours) and the result more obvious — 3 ports fully clean vs 3 partially fouled ports means a larger percentage improvement in airflow than a 6-cylinder. If your B38 116i feels sluggish or idles rougher than usual, carbon cleaning is likely the fix.
