BMW 1 Series Alternator Malaysia — F20/F40
1 Series smart alternator with IBS — charges on deceleration. F20 N20 alternator RM 700–1,300; F40 B38/B48 RM 800–1,500. IBS sensor replacement RM 150–300. ISTA battery + alternator registration after every change. Lower demand vs large SUV = longer alternator life typically.

Alternator Health Check — Part of Oil Service
At 4M Car Care, every oil service includes a basic charging voltage check (multimeter at battery terminals with engine running). Target: 14.2–14.8V. If below 13.8V, we flag it for ISTA alternator test. This catches alternator deterioration before the battery is blamed for drain. The 1 Series alternator is relatively affordable to replace — do not wait for complete failure.
