Toyota Prius A/C Not Cold Malaysia — Electric Compressor Diagnosis
Prius uses an electric A/C compressor — works with engine off. Low refrigerant, compressor failure and inverter fault are the three main causes.
Prius uses an electric A/C compressor — it runs off HV battery power even when the engine is off (at traffic lights, in EV mode). If A/C stops cooling: check refrigerant first, then check electric compressor via OBD scan.
A/C Diagnosis
- Cabin filter first: RM 35–65 — most A/C complaints resolve with new cabin filter
- Refrigerant top-up (R134a): RM 80–150 — check for leaks before refilling
- Electric compressor fault: shows as A/C fault code — no belt squeal (electric compressor is belt-free)
