Toyota Land Cruiser Oil Leak — Common Spots Malaysia
Turbo oil feed and return lines, valve cover gasket and crankshaft seal are common leak points. Off-road vibration accelerates gasket ageing.
V8 engines with high displacement and tight tolerances can develop oil leaks at several points above 100,000 km. Common leak points: valve cover gaskets, front and rear main seals, turbo oil lines (1VD-FTV).
Oil Leak Repair Costs
- Valve cover gasket set: RM 200–350 parts + RM 200–400 labour (V8 has 2 valve covers)
- Rear main seal replacement: RM 600–1,000 — requires gearbox removal; worth combining with clutch service
- Turbo oil return line (1VD-FTV): RM 150–300 — common weep point; fix early to prevent turbo starvation
