DOT 4 is recommended for the LC's heavy-duty use. Replace every 2 years. Off-road and towing raises heat demands considerably.
Use Toyota-specified DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. Change every 2 years regardless of mileage — brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, lowering its boiling point and increasing brake fade risk on a heavy vehicle.
Brake Fluid Service
- Full brake fluid flush: RM 100–150 — bleed all 4 corners until clean fluid appears
- Test moisture content with a brake fluid tester before deciding — if above 3% water content, replace immediately
