Subaru Levorg Carbon Buildup Cleaning Malaysia
The CB18 uses direct fuel injection, which means fuel does not wash over the intake valves during normal operation. Over time, oil vapour from the PCV system deposits carbon on the intake valves, causing rough idling, reduced power, and sluggish throttle response. This becomes noticeable from around 80,000 km onwards. The most effective remedy is walnut blasting or professional chemical intake cleaning. Subaru Levorg owners are advised to schedule an intake cleaning at around 80,000 km as a preventive measure.

Subaru Levorg Carbon Buildup
- Levorg FA20DIT direct injection: same as WRX — FA20DIT direct injection means intake valves are never washed by fuel; carbon deposits accumulate at 60,000–80,000 km; Levorg family wagon owners often miss this as symptoms are subtle at first
- Levorg carbon symptoms: warm engine rough idle (especially first minute after cold start), hesitation when accelerating from below 2000 RPM, slightly lower fuel economy than before; Levorg family drivers may dismiss as 'just how the car runs' — do not ignore
- Levorg walnut blasting: walnut blasting at 80,000 km; intake manifold removed, blast ports directly; Levorg more difficult to access than WRX due to wagon-specific engine bay routing; professional Subaru workshop required
- Levorg prevention: short 15-minute highway run at least once per week; highway RPM clears some deposits and keeps fuel system healthier; not a substitute for walnut blasting but slows carbon accumulation
