Forester throttle body: FB25 throttle body electronic (drive-by-wire); carbon deposits accumulate on throttle plate and bore wall from PCV blow-by gases; recommend cleaning at 60,000 km; symptoms: rough idle, idle surging, hesitation on light throttle
Forester throttle cleaning procedure: use dedicated throttle body cleaner spray; remove intake hose from throttle body; spray cleaner on throttle plate; rotate plate manually to access deposits; wipe clean; do not spray with plate closed — cleaner must drain out
Forester throttle relearn: after throttle body cleaning, ECU may need idle relearn; on FB25 — turn ignition on, do not start engine, wait 3 minutes, then start and idle 5–10 minutes; if idle hunts, reconnect battery negative for 10 minutes to reset ECU adaptation
