Subaru Forester Alternator
- Forester alternator: FB25 Denso alternator; lifespan 150,000–200,000 km; warning signs are battery warning light, dimming headlights at idle, and whining noise from engine bay
- Forester alternator belt: FB25 serpentine belt drives alternator, power steering pump, and A/C compressor; replace belt every 60,000 km; cracked or glazed belt slips and reduces charging voltage
- Forester e-Boxer alternator: hybrid Forester still has 12V alternator for auxiliary battery; electric motor separate from charging circuit; 12V alternator diagnosis same as non-hybrid
- Forester charging voltage: should read 13.8–14.4V with engine running; below 13.5V indicates failing alternator or loose belt; test with multimeter at battery terminals at 2000 RPM
