Subaru BRZ Rocker Cover Gasket Replacement Malaysia
Rocker cover gasket leaks are among the most common oil leak points on the Subaru BRZ FA20 boxer engine, affecting both the left and right cylinder banks. The horizontally opposed layout means oil can accumulate and seep from both sides of the engine. Symptoms include oil smell after driving, visible oil seepage around the valve covers, and oil on the exhaust causing smoke and burning smell. Spirited and track driving elevates oil temperature, accelerating gasket degradation. Replacing both rocker cover gaskets simultaneously is recommended when one is found to be leaking.

Subaru BRZ Rocker Cover Gasket
- BRZ FA20/FA24 rocker gasket: FA20 ZN6 valve cover gasket can seep at 80,000–100,000 km; FA24 ZD8 newer — interval similar; BRZ track use at high revs accelerates seal degradation; inspect valve cover when checking oil at each track day
- BRZ oil burning and rocker gasket: BRZ FA20 known for some oil consumption at high revs; distinguish oil consumption (internal, burns cleanly) from rocker gasket oil leak (external, drips onto exhaust); both can cause low oil level — check for external drips to diagnose
