The Subaru BRZ FA20 and FA24 use a dual fuel system with both a low-pressure in-tank pump and a high-pressure direct injection pump on the engine. Fuel pump issues are uncommon but can occur at high mileage or if the car is frequently run low on fuel. Symptoms include difficulty starting, fuel pressure drops, and power loss under high load. The BRZ's performance nature means maintaining fuel pressure is critical for consistent power delivery at the rev limit. Using RON 97 quality fuel and avoiding running on reserve helps extend pump life.
