Subaru BRZ CV Joint Service Malaysia
As a rear-wheel-drive sports car, the Subaru BRZ only has CV joints (constant velocity joints) at the rear halfshafts — there are no front CV joints. This is a key difference from AWD Subaru models. Rear CV joint wear on the BRZ is accelerated by hard launches, aggressive cornering, and high-power driving typical of track use. Signs of worn CV joints include clicking or clunking sounds during acceleration through corners. Inspect the CV boots for cracks and grease leaks every service — a torn boot quickly leads to joint failure from contamination.

Subaru BRZ CV Joint
- BRZ RWD CV joints: rear-wheel drive — only rear axle has CV joints (no front drive axles); fewer CV joints than AWD Subaru; rear outer CVs experience high stress from RWD traction and cornering forces
- BRZ track CV stress: BRZ cornering forces on track — rear outer CVs under sustained lateral and drive load; track BRZ owners should inspect rear CV boots after each track season; inner boot inspection annually
- BRZ CV noise: rear clicking on full lock (sharp U-turn) = wear starting but CV still usable; rear clicking during straight acceleration = inner CV or stub axle issue — inspect immediately; BRZ has less driveline slack than AWD Subaru so noises more obvious
