Nissan Serena CV Joint Malaysia
Serena FWD CV joints: inspect boots at every major service. MPV weight (1,800 kg+) means more CV load. Clicking on full-lock turns = outer CV joint worn. Frequent school run and family trips expose boots to heat cycles. Boot replacement is preventive; full replacement when clicking starts.

CV (constant velocity) joints connect the driveshaft to the wheels, allowing power to be transmitted at an angle as the suspension moves. In Malaysia, CV joints take a beating from speed bumps (bukit unta), potholes, and high mileage — especially on front-wheel-drive cars.
The classic clicking noise — what it means
- Clicking or popping noise when turning with acceleration — usually the outer CV joint
- Clunking noise on acceleration or deceleration in a straight line — inner CV joint or driveshaft coupling
- Vibration felt through the steering wheel or floor at certain speeds
- Grease spray inside the wheel arch — torn CV boot is the cause
Boot replacement vs full joint replacement
If caught early (torn boot but joint still smooth with no noise), a boot replacement can save the joint: RM 80–180 per boot including grease repack. If the joint itself is already clicking or rough, full replacement is needed: RM 250–600 per joint depending on the car.
