Suspension arms (control arms) and their ball joints and bushes are what connect your wheels to the car body — controlling wheel movement over bumps and keeping everything in proper alignment. In Malaysia, the combination of speed bumps, potholes, and high temperatures accelerates wear significantly compared to other countries.
Warning signs of worn suspension arms or bushes
- Clunking or knocking noise over speed bumps — especially prominent in Malaysia
- Steering wandering or feeling vague — car drifts slightly without steering input
- Uneven tyre wear — inside or outside edges wearing faster than the centre
- Car pulling to one side under braking
- Vibration through the steering wheel at certain speeds
Diagnosis and repair cost
At 4M Car Care, we lift the car and physically check each suspension component — ball joints (for play), bushes (for cracking and separation), and arm geometry. This is always done visually, not just from symptom description.
Bush replacement (per arm): RM 150–400 including labour. Ball joint replacement: RM 200–500 per joint. Full control arm replacement (arm + bush + ball joint as assembly): RM 350–900 depending on the car. Always do wheel alignment after any suspension work.
