E-Class Alternator Guide — W212 and W213
W212 E-Class M274 uses a conventional smart alternator. W213 M264 on certain variants uses an integrated starter-generator (ISG) as part of the 48V EQ Boost mild hybrid system — this is NOT a standard alternator and cannot be replaced with a generic unit. Diagnosis requires XENTRY to distinguish between a faulty conventional alternator and an ISG fault.
