Mercedes-Benz C-Class Air-Con Service Malaysia — Cost & Intervals

C-Class uses R-134a or R-1234yf refrigerant depending on year. Cabin air filter (dust + activated carbon) should be replaced every 15,000 km. Full air-con service costs and checklist for Malaysia.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Air-Con Service Malaysia — Cost & Intervals

In Malaysia's year-round heat and humidity, the air-conditioning system is one of the most heavily used components on any car — and the C-Class is no exception. Regular air-con servicing keeps the cabin cool, prevents evaporator mould and maintains cabin air quality.

Cabin air filter — priority item in Malaysia

The C-Class uses a combination cabin filter (dust + activated carbon). Mercedes recommends replacement every 15,000 km, but in Malaysia's urban environment — construction dust, haze and high pollen — every 10,000 km is more practical.

A clogged cabin filter reduces airflow through the evaporator, making the air-con work harder and reducing its effectiveness. Cost to replace: RM 80–150.

Refrigerant check and top-up

W204 C-Class uses R-134a refrigerant; W205 and W206 use R-1234yf (more expensive, environmentally friendlier). Refrigerant naturally depletes slowly over years — a system that's more than 3 years old without a regas will gradually lose cooling performance.

Annual refrigerant check (pressure test + top-up if needed): RM 100–200. If there is a refrigerant leak, diagnosis to find the source costs RM 150–300, repair varies by leak location.

Evaporator cleaning and odour elimination

Mould and bacteria grow on the evaporator surface in Malaysia's humidity, causing a musty smell when the air-con is first turned on. Annual evaporator fogging treatment (RM 80–150) prevents this. If odour is severe, a full evaporator chemical flush may be needed.
