Mercedes-Benz A-Class Used Car Checklist Malaysia — W177 Guide
Buying a used A-Class W177 in Malaysia? Check DCT service history, MBUX software version, M260 oil consumption level, tyre condition and accident history. What to ask the seller and what to test drive.

The A-Class W177 is increasingly common in Malaysia's used market. Before buying, inspect these A-Class-specific items alongside the standard pre-purchase checks.
7DCT Checklist
- Test drive in stop-go traffic: any judder on pullaway = DCT fluid service needed at minimum
- Ask for 7DCT fluid history: no record = treat as overdue
- XENTRY scan: check for stored 7DCT fault codes (mechatronics, clutch slip codes)
Engine & Carbon
- Ask when intake carbon cleaning was last done — critical for any A-Class over 60,000 km
- Cold start test: listen for timing chain rattle in first 5 seconds
- Check oil level and condition on dipstick before drive
Electrical & Battery
- XENTRY full scan: check all ECUs for fault codes — A-Class W177 can hide faults in COMAND, camera, airbag ECUs
- Battery age: AGM batteries typically last 4–6 years — budget RM 600–800 if approaching end of life
Tyres & Body
- Inspect all four tyre sidewalls for cracks or bulges from pothole impacts
- Check rim edges for bends or cracks — common on low-profile A-Class setups
- A-Class W177 is a newer model (2018+) — accident history is more traceable; request CarSome or Carlist report
