Mercedes-Benz A-Class Engine Oil Guide Malaysia — M260/M264
A-Class M260 (A180) and M264 (A200/A250) require MB 229.6 specification 0W-20 engine oil. This is a low-viscosity spec — standard 5W-30 does not meet the requirement. Malaysian price guide inside.

Getting the oil spec right on the A-Class matters: M270 and M260 require different MB approvals, and using the wrong grade can void the engine warranty or accelerate wear.
M270 Engine (A180/A200, up to 2018)
- Specification: MB 229.51 fully synthetic 5W-30 or 0W-30
- Capacity: 5.5 litres including filter
- Approved brands: Mobil 1 ESP, Castrol EDGE, Liqui-Moly Leichtlauf — all must show MB 229.51 on label
- Do NOT use MB 229.3, 5W-40, or non-ACEA C3 oils
M260 Engine (A250, 2019+)
- Specification: MB 229.6 fully synthetic 0W-20
- Capacity: 6.1 litres including filter
- MB 229.6 is a low-SAPS low-viscosity approval — do not substitute with 229.51 or 5W-30
- In Malaysian heat, 0W-20 is perfectly fine — the full-synthetic formulation handles 35°C+ ambient
Service Reminder
The ASSYST Plus system tracks oil life based on mileage and driving pattern. In Malaysian stop-go urban conditions, we recommend not exceeding 12,000 km between oil changes regardless of the ASSYST countdown. Always carry 0.5–1L of the correct spec oil for top-up between services.
