Mercedes-Benz A-Class DCT Fluid Service Malaysia — 7DCT/8DCT Guide
A-Class uses a wet dual-clutch transmission that requires DCT-specific fluid — do not use regular ATF. Service every 40,000 km prevents the classic 'DCT jerk' in slow KL traffic. Costs and process.
The A-Class W177 uses a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) co-developed by Mercedes-Benz and Getrag. This is fundamentally different from the 9G-Tronic automatic found in C-Class, E-Class and GLC — and requires completely different fluid.
Correct Fluid Specification
- 7DCT requires Mercedes-Benz DCT-specific fluid — often listed as MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid) or DCT fluid
- Do NOT use MB 236.15 (9G-Tronic ATF) in the 7DCT — wrong fluid causes rapid clutch wear and judder
- Capacity: approximately 7 litres for full flush
- Interval: every 40,000–60,000 km, or sooner if judder appears
Judder Diagnosis
7DCT judder presents as a vibration when pulling away slowly from a standstill — most noticeable in traffic queues. It differs from 9G-Tronic judder in that it is more mechanical and less likely to respond to ATF flush alone. Step 1: flush with correct DCT fluid. Step 2: if judder persists, inspect clutch packs under XENTRY. Step 3: clutch pack replacement if worn (RM 2,500–4,000).
