Mercedes-Benz A-Class ASSYST Plus Service Indicator Malaysia
A-Class W177 ASSYST Plus adapts service intervals to your driving. City driving in KL shortens intervals; highway driving extends them. Service A vs B explained for Malaysian A-Class owners.

The A-Class W177 uses ASSYST Plus (Active Service System) to calculate when service is due. It monitors oil quality, mileage, engine temperature cycles and driving style — not a simple countdown timer.
Understanding the Display
- 'Service A due in X km' — oil change and basic inspection
- 'Service B due in X km' — oil + filter + brake fluid + spark plugs + multi-point inspection
- 'Workshop!' with red spanner — service overdue, book immediately
Malaysian Reality
ASSYST Plus is calibrated for European driving cycles. In Malaysia, short urban trips with lots of idling degrade oil faster than ASSYST predicts. We recommend capping changes at 12,000 km even if ASSYST shows more remaining. Never let the display reach zero — the 'grace period' after zero is not a maintenance window, it is an overdue notice.
Reset Procedure
ASSYST Plus resets automatically when serviced via XENTRY. Some workshops reset it through the instrument cluster menu (hold the OK button during service reminder display). Always confirm the reset was done after service — a non-reset counter will show an incorrect remaining distance on the next drive.
