Mercedes-Benz A-Class Air-Con Service Malaysia — Compact Car Cooling
A-Class has a single-zone climate control system. Cabin filter every 15,000 km. Despite its compact size, the A200 air-con can struggle in Malaysia's extreme heat if not serviced regularly.

The A-Class W177 uses R-134a refrigerant (older) or R-1234yf (newer production). In Malaysia's year-round heat, the A-Class air conditioning system works harder than in any European market — regular maintenance prevents premature compressor failure.
Annual Service Checklist
- Cabin (pollen) filter: replace annually or every 15,000 km — blocked filter reduces airflow and strains blower motor
- Evaporator coil clean: every 2 years to prevent mould and musty smell
- Refrigerant level check: if cooling is weak, check for leaks before topping up
- Compressor belt inspection (A200/A180): check condition and tension
Common Symptoms
- Musty smell on startup: evaporator mould — clean with anti-bacterial spray + evaporator clean service
- Warm air despite max setting: low refrigerant or compressor clutch issue
- Blower noise: debris in fan or blower motor bearing wear
