Honda HR-V Common Problems Malaysia (RU/RV)
Honda HR-V CVT judder, aircond and service tips for Malaysia owners. Know the weak spots before they cost you.
The Honda HR-V RU (2015–2021) and RV (2022+) are among Malaysia's most popular compact SUVs. Both generations are practical and fuel-efficient, but have a few known maintenance areas to watch.
1. CVT judder (RU older models)
The RU uses the same CVT system as the same-generation City. Neglected CVT fluid causes low-speed judder — change it every 40,000–60,000 km.
2. Aircon performance
The HR-V has a larger cabin than the City, which puts more load on the aircon system. Refrigerant loss or early compressor wear shows up more noticeably here. Schedule a system check if cooling feels reduced.
