N63 Heat Management — The Challenge
The N63 generates far more heat than the N55 — it is a twin-turbo V8 with both turbos mounted inside the engine valley. BMW designed an elaborate cooling system with an additional water-cooled turbo charger and a separate post-drive cooling cycle. If the coolant is old, the cooling capacity drops and the N63 runs hotter than designed. In Malaysia's heat, use 3-year coolant intervals on the N63.
