X5 Alternator Diagnosis
On the X5, alternator issues often manifest as the air suspension dropping overnight (the suspension pump runs on battery power) or the post-drive cooling fan not running after shutdown (the N63 runs a cooling fan after the engine stops). These are both symptoms of inadequate charging voltage. Test alternator output via ISTA before diagnosing any battery-related issue — the alternator is the root cause more often than the battery.
