Case 1: Passat B8 1.8T — Carbon + DSG (62,000 km)
Passat B8 1.8T, 62,000 km: came for oil service. Carbon inspection: heavy buildup. DSG fluid never changed. Combined: walnut blast (RM 1,100) + DQ381 fluid (RM 520). Owner also noticed driver door handle sometimes needed two presses — VCDS showed micro-switch fault; replaced (RM 350). Total: RM 1,970 + oil. Car felt noticeably smoother and sharper after service.
Case 2: Passat B8 2.0T — HPFP (58,000 km)
Passat B8 2.0T, 58,000 km: P0087 fuel pressure fault, rough idle. Cam follower inspection: worn to 1.6mm (borderline). Replaced cam follower (RM 280) + HPFP (RM 1,900). Started carbon blast at same time (60,000 km threshold): RM 1,100. Total: RM 3,280. Owner understood that HPFP without cam follower check would have cost the new pump in another 15,000 km.
