Used Toyota Vios Checklist — 15 Things to Inspect Before Buying
Buying a used Toyota Vios? Check these 15 points before handing over any money — CVT condition, accident history, rust, cooling system and service records. Avoid the lemons.

Toyota Vios is one of the safest used car purchases in Malaysia — but not every unit is trouble-free. Use this 15-point checklist to avoid hidden problems.
Exterior & Engine Checks
- Check panel gaps for accident repairs; inspect door edges for rust (especially XP90)
- Cold-start the engine — listen for rattling (timing chain) or knocking
- Check dipstick — oil should be amber, not black or milky
- Test CVT at low speed — any shudder suggests degraded fluid
Electrical, Documents & History
- Test all windows, lights, locks and air-con cooling
- Verify VIN matches the grant and roadtax
- Check service records — regular oil changes are the most important indicator of care
- Run an insurance claim history check (Carlist MyCarInfo or Puspakom inspection)
