Toyota Vios CVT Fluid Change — How Often & How Much (Malaysia)

The Toyota Vios XP150 and XP210 use Toyota's Super CVT-i — a continuously variable transmission with a physical gear ratio lock-up at highway speeds. It's one of the smoothest CVTs in its class, but only when the fluid is in good condition.
What Fluid Does Vios Super CVT-i Use?
XP150 and XP210 Vios require Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC (the blue/purple labelled bottle). Do not use Honda HMMF, Dexron or generic CVT fluid — the Toyota CVT has different friction modifier requirements and using the wrong fluid can cause judder and premature wear. The XP90's 4-speed automatic uses Toyota ATF Type T-IV.
How Often to Change CVT Fluid in Malaysia?
Toyota officially classifies CVT fluid as a 'lifetime fill', but this recommendation was designed for temperate climates. In Malaysia, where ambient temperatures regularly exceed 35°C and traffic jams cause the transmission to work harder for longer, the fluid degrades much faster. We recommend changing CVT fluid every 40,000–60,000 km. Cars used mainly in city traffic should change closer to 40,000 km.

CVT Fluid Change Cost in Malaysia
A CVT fluid flush (drain and fill) at an independent workshop costs RM 250–350, including Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC. UMW Toyota dealers charge RM 400–600 for the same service. Note: a 'partial drain and fill' only replaces about 40–50% of the fluid — for severely degraded fluid, a full flush with multiple passes is recommended.
