Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, lowering its boiling point. Under sustained heavy braking, degraded fluid can boil inside the brake lines — creating vapour that makes the pedal go to the floor. This is brake fade and it's dangerous.
Specification & Interval
Toyota Vios uses DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point and is a direct upgrade. Change every 2 years regardless of mileage. Cost at an independent workshop: RM 80–120 for a complete system flush.
