2ZR-FXE is port injection (PFI) — carbon builds slowly. Short frequent trips are the only scenario that warrants early cleaning.
C-HR's 2ZR-FXE is a port-injected engine (not direct injection) — carbon buildup on intake valves is less severe than on direct-injection engines. However, Atkinson-cycle operation still causes some carbon deposits over time.

- Walnut blasting (intake valve cleaning): RM 350–550 — recommended at 80,000 km if symptoms present
