Toyota C-HR Electric A/C Compressor Failure Malaysia
C-HR uses an electric compressor requiring POE oil — not the same as a belt-driven compressor. Failure symptoms and replacement cost.
C-HR's electric A/C compressor is driven by HV battery power — it works even when the engine is off (e.g., waiting at traffic lights in EV mode). This design means the compressor lasts longer than belt-driven compressors.
Compressor Maintenance
- No belt to replace — one less maintenance item vs conventional car A/C
- Use PAG oil formulated for electric compressors (not standard PAG) — contamination causes motor winding failure
- A/C gas leak check every 40,000 km — early detection prevents compressor damage from running low on refrigerant
