Toyota Avanza Spark Plug Replacement Malaysia
New 2NR-VE uses iridium plugs at 80,000 km; old 3SZ-VE uses platinum at 60,000 km. Replacement cost and DIY guide.
Avanza spark plug specs and intervals differ between old and new generations. Using the wrong plug accelerates wear.
3SZ-VE — Iridium or Platinum at 60,000 km
NGK ILKAR7L11 or Denso SC16HR11. Old 3SZ-VE can also use copper plugs changed every 20,000 km if budget is tight. Iridium is preferred — the VVT-i system needs consistent spark to avoid misfires.
2NR-VE — Iridium at 80,000 km
NGK ILKAR7B11 or equivalent. 4 plugs total. Replacement cost: RM 140–220 at our workshop. Never use copper plugs on 2NR-VE.
