Toyota Corolla Altis Carbon Cleaning Malaysia — GDI vs PFI
E140 is PFI (slow carbon build); ZRE182 2ZR-FAE is direct injection (GDI) — carbon builds much faster. Inspect ZRE182 intake by 60,000 km.
All Altis generations use port injection — carbon buildup on intake valves is less severe than DI engines but still occurs above 80,000 km. Throttle body cleaning is the most common carbon service at our workshop.
Carbon Service
- Throttle body cleaning: RM 80–120 — first step for rough idle or hunting idle
- Intake manifold decarbonisation: RM 200–350 — on high-mileage E140 units with rough idle that throttle cleaning didn't fix
