Subaru WRX Rocker Cover Gasket Malaysia
The WRX boxer engine has two horizontally positioned cylinder heads, meaning both rocker cover gaskets are prone to seeping as they age — oil can pool at the lower surfaces and drip onto the exhaust manifold and turbocharger, creating smoke and a burning oil smell. Gasket hardening is accelerated by the higher operating temperatures of the FA20DIT turbo engine and Malaysia's ambient heat. Replace both rocker cover gaskets simultaneously as labour time to access both is similar — using a quality silicone-reinforced gasket set extends service life significantly.
Subaru WRX Rocker Cover Gasket
- WRX FA20DIT rocker gasket: FA20DIT valve cover gasket can seep at 80,000–100,000 km; turbo car means oil seeping onto hot exhaust components is more of a fire risk than NA cars; address oil leaks promptly on WRX
- WRX spark plug tube seals: FA20DIT spark plug tube seals at valve cover — oil in plug wells causes misfire (oil contacts plug boot and fouling); replace tube seals when doing valve cover; check plugs for oil fouling when removing coils
