Subaru WRX Radiator Service Malaysia
The WRX radiator must manage heat from both the FA20DIT turbo engine and the AWD drivetrain — an undersized or partially blocked radiator leads to overheating under sustained high-speed driving on Malaysian highways or mountain roads. Inspect the radiator for fin damage, corrosion, and coolant leaks at every major service; flush and refill the cooling system every two years. Some performance-oriented WRX owners upgrade to an aluminium performance radiator for improved heat dissipation — particularly useful if the car sees track days.

Subaru WRX Radiator
- WRX FA20DIT radiator: larger than naturally-aspirated Subaru; turbo adds heat to cooling system; FA20DIT also has charge air cooler (intercooler) separate from radiator; inspect radiator and intercooler together
- WRX intercooler condition: TMIC (top-mount intercooler) on VA WRX sits above engine; inspect for oil in intercooler piping — sign of turbo seal leak; inspect intercooler mounting and piping connections at 60,000 km
- WRX coolant change: coolant flush every 80,000 km; use Subaru SLLC blue coolant or equivalent; do not use generic coolant — risks aluminium corrosion in FA20DIT; pressurize cooling system to check for leaks after coolant change
- WRX radiator upgrade: aftermarket aluminium radiator popular on track WRX; thicker core improves cooling capacity; for Malaysia climate, upgraded radiator helps prevent heat soak on WRX in heavy traffic
