Subaru WRX Oil Leak Diagnosis Malaysia
On the FA20DIT boxer engine, the most common oil leak points are the rocker cover gaskets on both valve covers (the horizontal layout makes both prone to seeping), the turbo oil feed line and banjo fitting, and the front crankshaft seal at higher mileages. Boxer engines have horizontally positioned cylinder heads which means oil can pool at the rocker covers and seep if gaskets harden with age and heat. Inspect the underside and turbocharger area at every major service — early detection of a turbo oil feed leak prevents turbo bearing failure.

Subaru WRX Oil Leak
- WRX FA20DIT oil leak points: turbo oil supply line and return line (common on high-mileage WRX), rocker cover gaskets, front crankshaft seal, and turbo seal (oil in intercooler is sign of turbo shaft seal leak)
- WRX turbo oil leak: FA20DIT turbo has oil-cooled bearings; oil seepage into turbo housing causes blue smoke on start-up (seal worn) or oil in intercooler piping (shaft seal leak); blue smoke that disappears after warm-up = turbo seal issue
- WRX oil feed line: small braided oil feed line to turbo can develop seep at fittings over time; clean engine bay and inspect fittings at 80,000 km; oil mist on turbo exterior is first sign; replace banjo bolts and copper washers if seeping
- WRX oil level check critical: check oil every 2,000 km on WRX — FA20DIT turbo can consume more oil than NA engines; if oil drops significantly — check blue smoke, inspect turbo condition; low oil on FA20DIT risks turbo bearing failure
