Subaru WRX Fuel Pump Service Malaysia
The WRX FA20DIT uses a high-pressure direct injection fuel system with both a low-pressure in-tank pump and a high-pressure mechanical pump driven by the camshaft. Using RON 95 or allowing the fuel tank to run repeatedly low can stress the in-tank pump through heat and sediment. Signs of fuel pump issues include long cranking times, stumbling under heavy throttle, and boost-related hesitation. The high-pressure pump on the FA20DIT is driven by the camshaft — keep oil changes current as this pump relies on good oil lubrication.

Subaru WRX Fuel Pump
- WRX FA20DIT fuel pump: higher pressure direct injection pump (high-pressure cam-driven pump) and low-pressure in-tank feed pump; two-pump system; in-tank pump feeds low pressure to high-pressure DI pump on engine
- WRX high-pressure pump: cam-driven HPFP on FA20DIT is serviceable; if WRX has rough idle and lean codes with good in-tank pressure — suspect HPFP; HPFP failure causes direct injection lean misfire at high RPM
- WRX fuel pump upgrade: for tuned WRX above 300 hp, stock in-tank pump may be insufficient; Walbro 255 lph or AEM 340 lph aftermarket upgrades common; confirm tune map matches upgraded pump flow
- WRX pump access: in-tank pump under rear seat hatch; access and replace procedure same as other Subaru; depressurise system first; on tuned WRX, note any pump upgrade for future reference
