Subaru WRX CV Joint Service Malaysia
The WRX Symmetrical AWD system puts all four CV joints under torque load — inspect the CV boots at every major service for cracking or grease leakage. A torn CV boot exposes the joint to dirt and water, causing accelerated wear and eventual clicking sounds on turns. The AWD system means WRX CV joints transmit more torque than a two-wheel-drive equivalent; replace boots immediately upon detection of cracking to avoid full joint replacement. High-output tunes or launch control use accelerate CV joint wear significantly.

Subaru WRX CV Joint
- WRX FA20DIT CV joints: AWD with front active torque split; front CVs carry high torque under boost; WRX driven hard accelerates CV wear; inspect outer boots at 60,000 km; inner boot inspection at 80,000 km
- WRX launch control CV stress: repeated launch control puts extreme CV stress — WRX drag racing destroys inner CVs at full front-wheel torque delivery; inspect inner CVs after every drag event; upgrade to heavy-duty axles for regular drag use
- WRX aftermarket axles: GKN, Driveshaft Shop, and Falkland aftermarket axles available for WRX; upgraded axles handle higher torque than OEM; recommended for WRX above 300 hp or regular track use
- WRX CV diagnosis: clicking on full lock is normal on any AWD — not necessarily worn CV; clicking at mid-lock or at straight-ahead is worn outer CV; confirm by rotating wheel by hand with car safely elevated — feel for roughness in joint
