Subaru WRX Alternator Service Malaysia
A failing alternator on the WRX will cause the battery warning light to illuminate and may affect AWD and ECU systems that depend on stable voltage. Symptoms include dimming headlights at idle, battery drain after short trips, and erratic instrument readings. WRX alternators are generally reliable but high-electrical-load modifications (subwoofers, additional lighting) can strain them — test charging voltage at 13.8–14.8V at idle and under load during scheduled services.

Subaru WRX Alternator
- WRX alternator: FA20DIT high-output Denso alternator; turbo engine accessories and DCCD electronics increase alternator load; check output at idle and at 3000 RPM
- WRX DCCD alternator dependency: DCCD AWD controller draws continuous power — weak alternator on WRX causes DCCD warning light and erratic AWD behaviour; ensure alternator is healthy before diagnosing DCCD faults
- WRX aftermarket load: intercooler sprayer, boost controller, data logger all draw current — if WRX is heavily modified, test alternator output to confirm it handles extra load
- WRX alternator belt: FA20DIT serpentine belt; replace at 60,000 km; squealing on cold start means belt is slipping on alternator pulley — inspect and replace
