Subaru WRX STI Rocker Cover Gasket Malaysia
Rocker cover (valve cover) gasket leaks are extremely common on EJ-series engines, especially after 80,000–100,000 km. The boxer engine layout places the rocker covers on the sides of the engine, making leaks obvious. Oil dripping onto exhaust components is a fire risk and should be addressed immediately. Replacement is straightforward — OEM or quality aftermarket gaskets work well. This is often done alongside a cam seal replacement for efficiency.

Subaru WRX STI Rocker Cover Gasket
- STI EJ257 rocker gasket: EJ257 has two valve covers (left and right bank); oil seepage common at 80,000–100,000 km; STI high revs and boost put more stress on seals than FB engines; valve cover gasket replacement a regular maintenance item on EJ
- STI EJ257 valve cover access: EJ257 valve covers under intake manifold side; access for right valve cover can be tight on STI due to intake manifold and turbo layout; both valve covers should be replaced together — same job if one is leaking
- STI rocker gasket oil drip risk: EJ257 oil dripping onto turbo heat shield or exhaust manifold is fire risk; WRX STI community reports smell of burning oil as first symptom; address promptly; inspect valve covers whenever car is on lift
