Subaru WRX STI O2 Sensor Replacement Malaysia
The EJ257 uses upstream (pre-cat) and downstream (post-cat) oxygen sensors for fuel trim management. Faulty O2 sensors trigger check engine lights and can cause rich or lean running conditions, reducing performance and fuel economy. O2 sensors typically last 80,000–100,000 km. On modified STIs with aftermarket exhausts, use wideband O2 sensors for accurate tuning. Always use the correct sensor specification for the EJ257.

Subaru WRX STI O2 Sensor
- STI EJ257 O2 sensor: STI uses narrowband front O2 sensor (upstream) for closed-loop fuel control; downstream O2 for catalytic monitor; Cobb Accessport on STI shows O2 sensor voltage in live data — upstream should oscillate 0.1–0.9V at cruise
- STI O2 and fuel quality: RON95 fuel on STI changes combustion; O2 sensor on STI running RON95 will show richer AFR than designed — ECU compensates but long-term RON95 use strains O2 sensor response and accelerates sensor aging
- STI exhaust and O2: catless or high-flow cat exhaust on STI — P0420 code will appear without catalytic converter; Cobb Accessport can suppress P0420 with tune; workshop should be aware of exhaust modification when diagnosing O2-related codes
