Subaru WRX STI CV Joint Service Malaysia
The WRX STI's Symmetrical AWD system uses CV joints on all four drive axles. Clicking sounds during tight turns indicate worn or damaged CV joints. In Malaysia, road conditions and aggressive driving accelerate CV boot wear — inspect boots for cracks and grease leakage at every service. A torn CV boot leads to grease loss and eventual joint failure. Early boot replacement is far cheaper than replacing the entire CV joint assembly.

Subaru WRX STI CV Joint
- STI DCCD AWD CV joints: STI symmetrical AWD with DCCD puts equal torque to all 4 wheels under DCCD-locked setting; all 4 CVs under high equal stress during acceleration; inspect boots at 60,000 km
- STI clutch dump CV stress: STI clutch dump at launch = extreme shock load on all 4 CVs simultaneously; stock CVs rated for road use; heavy track/drag use requires upgraded axle shafts front and rear
- STI front axle boot priority: front outer CV boots on STI are highest priority — front wheels steer and receive high torque; cracked front boot causes rapid joint failure under aggressive driving; replace front boots immediately if cracked
