Subaru WRX STI Check Engine Light Malaysia
A check engine light on the WRX STI should never be ignored. Common triggers include oxygen sensor faults, boost leaks, MAF sensor issues, EVAP system faults, and misfires. Use a Subaru-compatible OBD2 scanner or visit a Subaru specialist with SSM4 capability for accurate fault code reading. Address faults promptly — a blinking check engine light indicates active misfires and requires immediate attention to avoid catalytic converter damage.

Subaru WRX STI Check Engine Light
- STI EJ257 CEL causes: P0300–P0304 (misfire — low-octane fuel, failing ignition coil, worn plugs), P0172/P0175 (rich bank — fuelling issue or leaking injector), P0087 (fuel pressure low — single LPFP under stress), knock codes on piggyback tunes
- STI knock and CEL: EJ257 detonation under boost can set misfire codes and P0300; Cobb or Perrin data logging reveals knock counts; high knock = RON95 fuel damage; switch to RON97 and check plugs and coils before clearing code and re-testing
- STI DCCD CEL: DCCD-related faults appear as separate warning lights (DCCD indicator) not always as CEL; if CEL and DCCD light together — SSM4 required; do not drive STI hard with DCCD fault — AWD distribution unknown
