Subaru Outback Throttle Body Cleaning Malaysia
Throttle body carbon buildup on the FB25-powered Outback typically becomes noticeable at 60,000–80,000 km, causing rough idle, hesitation, and occasional stalling in traffic. Cleaning involves removing the intake hose and carefully spraying throttle body cleaner while cycling the throttle — do not spray with the engine off on drive-by-wire systems without following the correct procedure. After cleaning, an idle relearn using a diagnostic tool ensures the engine ECU resets its idle calibration correctly. On the CB18 BT, the electronically controlled throttle and direct injection mean this is less critical but still worth inspecting.

Subaru Outback Throttle Body Cleaning
- Outback FB25 throttle: same cleaning interval as Forester and XV — 60,000 km; Outback CVT adds consideration: rough idle from dirty throttle body can affect CVT engagement quality at low speed; smooth idle critical for smooth CVT operation
- Outback EZ36 throttle: EZ36 H6 has 2 throttle bodies (one per bank); cleaning twice as many throttle bodies; Outback H6 idle quality is known to be smooth — dirty throttle bodies are more noticeable when H6 smooth idle is disrupted
