Subaru Outback Common Problems Malaysia
The Subaru Outback BS and BT generations have a strong reputation in Malaysia, but owners should watch for CVT shudder if Lineartronic fluid is overdue, FB25 rocker cover oil seeps on high-mileage units, and head gasket concerns on older BS models with neglected coolant. The CB18 turbo on BT models is generally robust but requires quality 0W-20 oil and timely service to prevent turbo-related issues. Regular servicing at a Subaru-experienced workshop prevents most of these problems.

Outback FB25 CVT & Oil Consumption
The Subaru Outback shares the FB25 boxer engine with the Forester. CVT judder from fluid degradation is common. The FB25 is known for slightly elevated oil consumption — 0.5–1L per 5,000 km is considered within spec. Monitor oil level regularly. The Outback's higher weight and AWD demand makes CVT fluid changes more critical than lighter Subaru models.
