Subaru Outback Rocker Cover Gasket Malaysia
Rocker cover gasket seeps are among the most common minor oil leak issues on the FB25-powered BS Outback in Malaysia. The horizontal boxer layout has two rocker covers — one on each side of the engine — and both rubber gaskets can degrade over time, particularly on units with 80,000 km or more. The leak often appears as an oily residue around the perimeter of the rocker cover or a faint burning oil smell. This is a straightforward repair, but on the boxer the access from the sides of the engine bay requires patience. Replacing both sides at the same time is recommended.

Subaru Outback Rocker Cover Gasket
- Outback FB25 rocker gasket: same FB25 VCG failure at 80,000–100,000 km; Outback horizontal engine layout means oil leak gravity is the same as Forester; inspect valve cover perimeter at each 40,000 km service
- Outback EZ36 valve cover: EZ36 H6 has 3 valve covers (one per bank, plus centre); H6 rocker gasket job is more complex — more covers to remove; higher labour time; typically done together with other EZ36 top-end work
